Former GB News star and actor Laurence Fox has made his feelings about the King's speech all too clear.

Laurence Fox took to Twitter to blast the King's Speech, which saw the Labour Government's plans for a new Britain set out.

King Charles III spoke for more than 12 minutes about Keir Starmer's proposed changes on everything from overhauling the housing market to alleviating poverty - but Laurence was unconvinced. Sharing a photo of Keir Starmer and Angela Rayner kneeling, he sarcastically tweeted: "King's speech went well.

"Welcome to total ideological state control of your entire lives. These people are more radical than you could possibly imagine." His words divided opinion, with many fans of the actor - who is Billie Piper's ex-husband - also slamming Labour.

"I didn’t vote for that. They can do one!" a follower took to the comments to share. Another puzzled tweeter quizzed: "Why are they kneeling?"

Someone else shot back: "Because they are completely bereft of dignity and intellect." A fourth chimed in: "This picture makes me wanna puke. We don't bend the knee to anything."

Yet while some felt that the damage Labour could do is "enormous", others accused Laurence of over-reacting.

"You think a democratically elected slightly left of centre party equals radicals who control your entire lives. Bless you," stormed one follower.

He was accused of seeking attention, as fans were not happy with his disparaging comments about King Charles.

One fan added: "Please, Laurence, expand on your analysis of the King's speech. Lay out the evidence that backs up your claims. Of course you won't. You are merely a peddler of empty rhetoric, of meaningless sound bites. A man with no soul seeking attention for attentions sake. I pity you."

Another added: "God save the King. God save Britain," as a third chimed in: "Do you really, truly, honestly, seriously believe what you’re saying here? Or, are you just saying it to play to your crowd and get more likes and retweets? I think I know the answer…."

King Charles, who referred to Labour as "my government", promised that the party would "get Britain building, including through planning reform, as they seek to accelerate the delivery of high-quality infrastructure and housing".

However, that has been controversial, as the new plans to build up to two million new homes over the next few years would mean destroying parts of the Green Belt.

Starmer has suggested that lower quality areas of it could be reallocated as Grey Belt and that local communities will only be able to contest "how", rather than "if", new building projects go ahead.

The new policy on immigration, overturning Rishi Sunak's Rwanda scheme, has also attracted scepticism.

The speech also spoke of "modernising" the Mental Health Act to better suit people's needs, and restrict advertising of junk food to children.
