Britney Spears seems to take a swipe at ex Justin Timberlake following his DUI arrest

Britney Spears has broken her silence on Justin Timberlake's recent woes.

The 42-year-old pop star took to Instagram on Tuesday, just hours after her ex was arrested on suspicion of drink driving, to share a cryptic Instagram post.

Britney, who dropped a series of bombshells about her and Justin's relationship in her memoir, posted a photo of what coincidently appeared to be a colourful alcoholic beverage, complete with a flower decoration and a cherry.

“It’s the little things you know!!!” she captioned the snap.

The Grammy winner also posted a picture of her relaxing in a pool as she caught some rays.

Britney also made another alcohol reference in a second upload.

The Toxic hitmaker performed one of her classic dance routines in two figure-hugging dresses.

Britney's first look was an ultra-mini white dress that featured neon green panelling and the second was - what she called - a cocktail dress.

She has yet to directly comment on the former *NSYNC member, 43, being taken into custody in relation to DWI-related charges.

The Mirrors singer, who dated Britney between the years 1999 and 2002, was pulled over in Sag Harbor, New York, after a night out at the American Hotel with pals in the midst of his Forget Tomorrow World Tour.

Justin reportedly refused a breathalyzer test and insisted to the cop — who apparently didn’t recognise him — that he only drank one martini, according to the Sag Harbor Village Police Department in New York.

The arresting officer allegedly put in a criminal complaint that Justin had “bloodshot and glassy” eyes, which the singer's mugshot seemingly confirmed upon its release.

Following the arrest, the Cry Me A River singer was taken in handcuffs from the police station to the Sag Harbor Village Justice Court on Tuesday where he was arraigned and released without bail.
