Selma Blair insists she’s doing “really well” after battling Multiple Sclerosis for more than half a decade and letting her service dog Scout have his red carpet debut earlier this week at the Tribeca Film Festival.
Speaking to E! News with her trusty pooch by her side on Wednesday, the actress revealed her remission status hasn’t mean the end of her hospital visits.
She shared in a candid update: “I just had an MRI last week. No news is good news. I did a transplant, and it was amazing to have the bone marrow transplant."
While there is no cure for MS, a condition that can affect the brain and spinal cord, most treatments focus on solving specific symptoms such as mobility or vision problems.
The Cruel Intentions actress was diagnosed with MS in 2018 and had a stem cell transplant shortly after which she has continuously praised as one of the most effective treatments she has experienced.
In 2021, Selma revealed the sensational news that she was declared in remission and has thankfully been able to keep this status ever since.
The next year, Selma and her 12-year-old son Arthur welcomed labrador Scout into their family to help the star’s mobility and muscle spasms, as well as giving her son peace of mind when staying with his dad.
The 51-year-old isn’t the only Hollywood star battling the progressive condition as Dead to Me star Christina Applegate and The Sopranos actress Jamie Lynn Sigler have launched their own podcast recent, MeSsy, talking about the realities they face daily due to the disease.

Selma praised the actresses for their work, admitting that she loves listening to the podcast and that both stars were already “good friends of mine”.
MS affects each patient differently and Selma’s personal journey has fortunately been punctuated with steady recovery.
However, she confessed to Self in January last year that remission hasn’t been all it was made up to be: “It haunts my physical cells. It's there.
“Some people wake up two years later and they're like, 'I'm healed! Colors are brighter!' But I never had that moment. I just stopped having regression."
