Jeremy Vine has been blasted on social media after he mocked Prime Minister Rishi Sunak during his Channel 5 talk show.
Jeremy Vine mocks Rishi Sunak's election launch
Jeremy Vine poked fun at Prime Minister Rishi Sunak during his Channel 5 chat show. This came after it was announced that there would be a general election on July 4.
The 58-year-old presenter decided to make a joke over Rishi, 44, delivering a speech in the pouring rain. While Jeremy was filming, he was spotted standing in a paddling pool in a bid to recreate the scene.
To make it look authentic, a crew member towered over him on a ladder holding a watering can to show a rain effect. Taking to X, formerly known as Twitter, Jeremy uploaded the clip.
Recording a piece to camera he was heard saying: "Today it is a very imporant show that we must take seriously. We are asking you, who gets your vote?” Although he was interrupted by loud music which forced him to stop.
He shouted at the crew: “Can somebody shut that off please?” To which he then continued to say, “We are asking you who will stay in what could be a momentous general election.”
Concluding the segment, the star was soaked as he got drenched from the water above - which was a clear dig at Rishi.
In the caption alongside the video, he wrote: “We want you to recreate the Rishi Sunak election launch.” “Okay … with the music?” “The music and the water.”
However, some of his 785,000 followers were not amused. One user wrote: "Has anyone ever called you hilarious…. …. Thought not."

While a second person agreed, and said: "And you call this entertainment???". A third penned: "So pathetic I would never expect anything less."
Meanwhile a fourth chimed in adding: "Jeremy - I wouldn't have expected anything less, or more childish and immature from you - boring programme with its regular guests (spouting the same tosh!).
"You should be professional and not resort to such silly behaviour, when there are so many serious issues to focus on."
Despite this, some fans thought it was "hilarious" and creative. Another user wrote: "This was brilliant Jeremy. Well done team."
This came after the presenter revealed that there are “no immediate plans” to film more episodes of the quiz show Eggheads.
The broadcaster filmed his final instalment more than a year ago with him being left in the dark about future filming plans.
