Hallyday daughter’s suicide bid
FRENCH rocker Johnny Hallyday’s daughter tried to commit suicide after agonising about her father’s health.
Laura Smet was heartbroken when Hallyday, 66, “the Gallic Elvis”, contracted a life-threatening infection after a routine slipped-disc operation by top neurosurgeon Stephane Delajoux.
The 26-year-old actress felt divided loyalties as her lover Julien is the surgeon’s brother.
Her despair climaxed on Sunday when she took a potentially fatal cocktail of drugs and alcohol and was rushed to hospital in Paris.
Last night she was recovering well but family and friends have been left shocked.
Hallyday’s battle to regain his health has gripped France and passions have run high. The star is recovering in Los Angeles.
