Angelina Jolie talks 'truth' about 'family situation' that saw her return to acting
ANGELINA JOLIE has suggested a "change in her family situation" instigated a return to acting and a step away from directing, opening up about the "truth" of her return to the big-screen since 2019.

Hollywood actress Angelina Jolie, 45, revealed the truth behind why she hasn't directed any films as of late, putting it down to a change in her family situation. Explaining she "needed to be home more", her responsibilities made it impossible for her to be behind the lens since her last gig in 2017's First They Killed My Father.

In a new interview Jolie, who is still going through her divorce from ex-husband Brad Pitt which she filed back in 2016, the star hasn't ruled out returning to the directing scene in the future.
"I love directing, but I had a change in my family situation that's not made it possible for me to direct for a few years," she admitted to Entertainment Weekly.
"I needed to just do shorter jobs and be home more, so I kind of went back to doing a few acting jobs.

"That's really the truth of it."
The famous couple, who married in 2014 after nine years together, share six children, 12-year-old twins Knox and Vivienne, Shiloh, 14, Zahara, 16, Pax, 17, and Maddox, 19.
Starring on the cover of for British Vogue's March issue, Jolie recently opened up on what a "typical" day in the life her family looks like.
She admitted: "I was never very good at sitting still.
"Even though I wanted to have many children and be a mom, I always imagined it kind of like Jane Goodall, traveling in the middle of the jungle somewhere.
"I didn't imagine it in that true, traditional sense. I feel like I'm lacking in all the skills to be a traditional stay-at-home mom."
She revealed that she is "managing through it" because her children are "quite resilient".

"They're helping me," she explained, "but I'm not good at it at all."
Talking about her love for her children, she labelled them "such a team".
"It may sound clichéd," Jolie added, "but you love and you try, and even if you burn the eggs, that doesn't matter in the end."
The Oscar-winning actress will soon debut in the action thriller Those Who Wish Me Dead, her first leading role since 2014’s Maleficent and its 2019 sequel.
Having largely worked behind the camera in the past decade, she has directed films such as Unbroken and By the Sea, the latter of which she starred alongside Pitt.
Those Who Wish Me Dead premieres in cinemas and on HBO Max 14 May.
