Bear Grylls, 46, has spoken out on Instagram about the pain he feels in his back “every day”, after he sustained an injury 25 years ago. The adventurer and TV star went through a year of rehabilitation after fracturing three vertebrae in 1996 during an SAS training exercise that went wrong.
I choose to be grateful
Bear was skydiving over Zambia at the age of 21 when his parachute failed to inflate and he landed on his pack.
Sharing photos of his back and his treatment on Instagram, he wrote: "People sometimes ask me if my back ever hurts having broken it all those years ago in a parachuting accident.
"The answer is every day. And the treatment I get for it can be quite intense but life can at times be a battle for everyone and most people have their stuff to carry with them through the adventures.
"I choose just to be grateful for the opportunity to still be able to live life as best I can.

"PS second photo is the ice treatment I do every day that helps keep me strong inside and out!"
Underneath, fans praised the star for his honesty, as they credited him for his “positive” mindset.
One said: “You’re a true inspiration Bear, I have herniated discs in my lower back and someday the pain is awful but you help with positivity.”
Another replied: “I love your positive mindset! It’s inspiring!”
A third commented: “Looks so painful. You are an inspiration battling on xx.”
Less than two years after the accident, the star reached the summit of Mount Everest.
At the time, he was the youngest Briton to reach the summit of the world's highest peak in Nepal.
But he has since said he felt the record belonged to Michael Matthews, the brother of Made In Chelsea star Spencer Matthews, who was 22 when he disappeared on the mountain in 1999.

Appearing on Spencer’s podcast alongside co-host Jamie Laing, 6 Degrees from Jamie and Spencer, the TV adventurer said: “He [Michael] was on the mountain the year after I was there and I always feel it’s his record.
“I remember I was the youngest Brit at the time and I feel he paid the ultimate price with his life up there.
“It really rocked me at the time... It shook me as the dark side of high altitude mountaineering.
“There are no guarantees, bad stuff happens to amazing, brilliant, talented brave people like your brother.”
The shock of Michael’s disappearance and presumed death has stayed with Bear ever since, as he feels his “presence” upon his shoulders.
Bear added to the reality TV star: “It really rocked my confidence afterwards. And I always kind of felt, you know what, I’m gonna really have an eye for Spencer in his life.
“I’ve felt your brother on my shoulder often. And I just want to say you’re amazing.
“You’ve had a really hard journey and I think you’ve faced it with courage and I think Mike would be proud of you.”
