Phillip Schofield and Amanda Holden: This Morning co-star denies wanting her to get sack
PHILLIP SCHOFIELD’S This Morning co-star Sophie Prescott has denied claims she wanted Amanda Holden to face the sack from Britain’s Got Talent amid feud rumours, as the craft segment host revealed she “didn’t speak those words”.
Amanda Holden says she tried to end ‘feud’ with Phillip Schofield
Phillip Schofield, 57, is currently at the centre of speculation about an alleged feud with Amanda Holden, 48. The This Morning presenter’s reported spat with the Britain’s Got Talent judge emerged after a source claimed to The Sun Online he had “pushed” for Rochelle Humes, 30, to present alongside him on the ITV show instead of her. Craft expert Sophie Prescott, who occasionally presents segments for the ITV show, previously waded in on the rumours to defend Phillip earlier this week. The star told The Mirror: “I put on a brave happy face doing the show but Amanda was very off-putting during my live appearance, kept asking questions, kept interfering and I felt she was a very controlling person.
“You’d think she owned the show the way she carried on and I never liked her from that moment on."
She continued: “Amanda Holden is being thoroughly unprofessional in her behaviour to a fellow ITV family member and should keep her opinions to herself and not publicise them in this way, bringing unwanted bad publicity to the ITV.
“Amanda should be ‘yellow-carded’ and told to shut up or face getting the sack from Britain’s Got Talent.”
Express.co.uk has contacted ITV and a representative for Amanda asking for comment.
However, Sophie has now reportedly taken to Instagram to address her interview and to deny she had ever said anything negative about the Heart Radio host.
She wrote in view of her 2,792 followers, in screengrabs obtained by The Sun: "You may have seen some words in the press from me today and it's not true.
"I didn't speak those words, so please do not believe them."
Amanda mentioned the This Morning favourite on her Heart FM radio show this week.
The star was also previously asked what three things she wouldn’t like to find in her home, to which she replied: “Spiders, flies and Phillip Schofield.”
Phillip took to Twitter over the weekend to address the situation between himself and Amanda.
The star tweeted to his four million followers: “The end of another really sad weekend.
“When you try for 35 years to be the easiest, most fun person to work with and you read such hurtful and wildly untrue stories from nameless ‘sources’.
“Obviously I’ll take it on the chin.. I just hope you know me better.”
Phillip’s co-host Holly Willoughby was spotted “liking” his tweet on the micro-blogging site as she appeared to show her support for his statement.
In light of the claims, an ITV spokesperson said: "Presenter line ups on This Morning change regularly and final decisions on these line ups are made by producers and not the presenters.
"Phillip Schofield is a much loved broadcaster and part of the ITV family. He is a consummate professional and held in high regard at ITV."
This Morning airs weekdays from 10.30am on ITV.
