Kevin Clifton reveals how he really feels about ex-wife Karen Clifton and new lover
KEVIN CLIFTON has broken his silence on how he feels about his former wife and Strictly Come Dancing co-star Karen Clifton moving on and finding romance with singer David Webb.
Kevin Clifton and his fellow Strictly Come Dancing pro Karen Clifton wed back in 2015, before announcing their split in March last year. And now the professional dancer has opened up about his BBC co-star ex and her new lover, singer David Webb, 35. The 36-year-old - who is thought to be single after his marriage breakdown - said the Venezuelan beauty, 36, seems “very happy”. The All Star Musicals judge said the pair try to be “as adult as possible” following their split last year.
Karen Clifton seems very happy
Speaking to The Sun about Karen, Kevin commented: “I’ve got so much respect for her. I just want her to be happy.
“She seems very happy and she came to my launch night of Rock of Ages, which was great.”
The small screen favourite embarked on a tour with his former spouse just months ago, despite their romantic relationship ending.
He continued: “We wanted to be as adult as possible and be calm about it. We didn’t want to drive ourselves mad.
“We wanted to carry on working together at Strictly and do our tour together.”
Kevin also said he hadn’t given up on finding love himself as well as becoming a father.
He added: “I would like to meet someone in the future but it’s not something I’m focusing on at the moment.
“One day I’ll have children - but I’ve got to have a girlfriend first.”
The ex-couple were confirmed to be part of the Strictly 2019 line-up last month, after first appearing together back in season 11.
It comes just months after Kevin lifted the Glitterball trophy with celebrity partner Stacey Dooley.
It was the first time he had won the programme, however missed out on the tour with the documentary-maker due to work commitments on Rock Of Ages.
Strictly: Karen Clifton hugs Kevin after he's crowned winner
At the launch night at the end of February, Karen Clifton was on hand to support Kevin Clifton in his role as Stacee Jaxx.
They previously confirmed they were no longer together on Chris Evans' BBC Radio 2 Breakfast Show in March 2018.
He told the host at the time: "We've always felt the best thing is to be honest with everyone and upfront and respectful to our fans.
"So we just wanted to do this now and let everyone know that actually, privately we're not together any more.
"But professionally, we're stronger than ever."
Strictly Come Dancing 2019 is expected to return to BBC One later this year.
