Seann Walsh and Katya Jones: ‘That’s a sure fire way to leave’ Strictly winner slams pair
SEANN WALSH and Katya Jones have been criticised by a former Strictly Come Dancing winner after they were caught kissing last week, despite them both being in relationships.
Strictly judges should ignore Seann scandal says Arlene Phillips
Strictly Come Dancing champion Ore Oduba has blasted Seann Walsh and Katya Jones for taking the focus off the competition and the celebrities’ dance floor routines.
The television presenter, who triumphed on the BBC show in 2016, said it was a “shame” their infidelity was what everyone is talking about.
The comedian, 32, who was in a five-year relationship with Rebecca Humphries, and the married Russian dancer, 29, have since apologised for their kiss, which was caught on video and published by The Sun.
Ore, also 32, claimed those contestants too busy thinking about other matters other than their performance were likely to get booted off.
It’s a shame it goes away from what everybody loved about Strictly Come Dancing
The father-of-one told Metro.co.uk: “I just want the show to get back to people watching the dancing.
“It’s a shame it goes away from what everybody loved about the show.”
But, the former Newsround favourite said that come Saturday everyone will once again be tuning in to “one of the best family shows out there”.
Saying Seann and Katya’s drama will have “changed the dynamic a little bit”, he added: “Good luck thinking about anything else other than the routine, because that is a sure fire way to leave.”
Ore won alongside Joanne Clifton during the 14th season, after beating off stiff competition from Danny Mac and Louise Redknapp in the final.
He has since gone on to become a dad with wife Portia Jett, who he wed in November 2015, welcoming son Roman in January.
Meanwhile, his comments come after Seann and Katya made their first live television appearance since the photos emerged.
They joined Zoe Ball on spin-off It Takes Two last night, where they spoke out about what happened once again.
“I’m sorry for the hurt that I’ve caused,” the funny man said. “We had drinks and we made a huge mistake and I regret it deeply.
“First of all, I would rather not be having to address this publicly but I feel like I have to. You never think about the extent of the damage that you’re going to do.”
Seann went on: “I’m not perfect, far from it, our relationship wasn’t perfect, that doesn’t mean that I wanted it to end the way that it finally did.

“I feel it’s also important for me to say that the people that know me the most, that love me, they know that I am not the person I am being portrayed as.”
Katya told viewers that she and her husband Neil Jones, who also performs on Strictly, were “fine” regardless of her kiss with Seann.
She added: “I apologise to everyone it hurt and it involved. But the main thing for me, is me and Neil are fine.
“I’m focussing on my job and doing it as a professionally as I can.”
Strictly Come Dancing 2018 continues Saturday at 6.40pm on BBC One.
