Michael Caine health update: Star, 85, supported by wife Shakira as he steps out with cane
MICHAEL CAINE walked with a cane while attending the King of Thieves premiere in London tonight and, as he arrived at the event, the actor was spotted posing for snaps with his wife Lady Shakira and co-star Ray Winstone.
King of Thieves: Michael Caine stars in British crime film
Sir Michael Caine appeared in good spirits while posing for photos at the King of Thieves premiere in London’s Leicester Square tonight.
The 85-year-old has been spotted using a cane a number of times this year, after he was temporarily left wheelchair bound earlier this year.
It came after the actor slipped on the ice during snowy weather, his publicist confirmed to Express.co.uk.
And tonight, the star seemed well as he supported himself with a walking stick while stepping out with his wife Lady Shakira Caine for the premiere of his latest film.
As he made his way into the venue, Sir Michael seemed raring to pose for a snap with his King of Thieves co-star, as he appeared to photobomb Sir Ray Winstone.
The actor, who plays the role of Brian Reader in the 2018 crime film, approached his colleague - who was already working the cameras.
In one photo, the star placed one hand on Sir Ray’s (who portrays Danny Jones in the film) left shoulder, who gently touched the star’s hand with his own.
The duo went on to be photographed together, with the 61-year-old giving a thumbs up gesture.
Sir Michael looked very dapper at the event - having donned a navy blue suit and paler blue shirt.
He wore his jacket buttoned up, and teamed the look with a pair of black shoes.
As he posed for the paparazzi, the actor held onto a brown walking stick, and posed with a solemn expression.
In one capture, Sir Michael was joined by his second wife Lady Shakira, who he wed back in 1973.
The 71-year-old actor and fashion model had donned a sparkling black ensemble for the star-studded evening.
She teamed the look with a pair of black stiletto heels, and a patterned black handbag.
Sir Michael wrapped one arm around Lady Shakira as they paused for a photo together.
I didn't feel comfortable with it
Ahead of the film hitting cinemas, Sir Michael opened up about his attempt to cut the C-word from the movie - which is based on the 2015 Hatton Garden jewellery heist.
Speaking to The Sun, he spilled: “That was the first time I've used the C-word in a film.
“I tried to get it cut,” the big screen stalwart continued. “I’d never use it myself.
“I didn't feel comfortable with it. I never swear in films.”
King of Thieves is released in UK cinemas on Friday September 14.
