Weather expert issues brutal verdict on 19C bank holiday scorcher
EXCLUSIVE: An expert warns that the weather may play a spoilsport for those looking for hot weather over the early May bank holiday weekend.
Brits looking forward to a hot and sunny Bank Holiday weekend may be disappointed as a weather expert has shared a brutal verdict for the long weekend. While some weather maps suggest that some areas in the UK will experiencing warmer temperatures up to 18C, an expert has cast doubt on these predictions.
Maps from WXCharts and Netweather.tv suggest areas around Scotland could see 18C over the weekend. In the southern regions, the Midlands will also experience mild temperatures of around 16C near the Pennines and the city of Newcastle.
Meanwhile, cities in England and Wales can expect slightly cooler temperatures ranging from 13C to 15C. While London may see temperatures dropping as low as 12C, maps suggest.
However, a top meterologist feels that “weather may dampen the mood” of Britons looking forward to the weekend.
Jim Dale, founder of British Weather Services, told Express.co.uk: “For the most part on Saturday, it will be dry weather with temperatures hovering around 18-19C in areas like East Anglia, and Humberside.
“Some areas might be cooler than that, especially in the north of England and southern Scotland. It is a bit of a mixed bag.
“There will be showers on Sunday, particularly in middle England and Wales. But the Bank Holiday Monday will see most places witnessing heavy and slow-moving showers. The maximum temperature range will be between 10-15C.

“It’s not going to be the best weekend. If you get a bit of sunshine and warmth, that’s going to be ok but nothing more than that. The weather will dampen the mood especially the Bank Holiday Monday with showers around more or less everywhere.”
The Met Office has also predicted a "mix of sunshine and shower" over the weekend.
It said in its forecast: "Monday looks to be a mixed bag with showers developing, perhaps some more organised rain for the south, but, there should also be some decent spells of sunshine in between, with temperatures a little above average.
"From Tuesday onwards, it looks like high pressure will start to build, potentially bringing a more settled and drier, period."
Met Office's five-day forecast
Today:
Rather cloudy for many with showery rain. The rain perhaps thundery, especially across southern Scotland, and the north and east of England. Fine and warm, though breezy in the far north. Bright spells across the far south of England too.

Showery rain, some heavy will affect central and some northern areas. Northern Scotland staying mostly dry with clear spells. Clear spells too across southern England, with patchy fog and frost.
Saturday:
Cloudy across Wales, Northern Ireland, northern England and much of Scotland with rain at times. Northwest Scotland, along with central and southern England seeing sunny spells and some heavy showers.
